Were You a Verizon Customer? You Could Get a $100 Cash Payment

Verizon Customers are now eligible to receive cash payments from Verizon Communications Inc. as part of a $100 million class action settlement over hidden fees and administrative charges added to phone bills for years.

This is one of the largest telecom settlements in recent years, and if you had a Verizon postpaid plan between January 2016 and November 2023, you could qualify for a payout of up to $100.

Why Verizon Is Paying This Settlement

The lawsuit accused Verizon of charging “administrative” and “telecommunications recovery” fees without properly disclosing them upfront in plan pricing.

While Verizon denied any wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle to avoid further legal costs and provide refunds to eligible customers.

How Much You Could Receive

The settlement fund totals $100 million. Here’s the breakdown for eligible claimants:

  • $15 base payment for approved claims

  • + $1 for each month you were charged the disputed fees

  • Maximum payout: $100 per person

Payouts began in mid-2025 and are being sent through Zelle, direct deposit, or mailed checks.

Eligibility Requirements

You may qualify for a payment if:

  • You had a Verizon postpaid plan between 2016 and 2023

  • You were charged administrative or recovery fees

  • You filed a valid claim by the April 15, 2024 deadline

If you already submitted a claim, your payment could arrive automatically.

Why This Settlement Matters

This case sets a major precedent for billing transparency in the telecom industry.

Regulators like the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have expressed interest in tightening oversight on so-called “junk fees.”

Even if you don’t get a payout, Verizon has pledged to make its billing clearer and more transparent going forward.
